Medical Assistant Program

The Glenn Medical Assistant course is designed to meet for 360 hours classroom + 180-200 hours clinical experience and will provide students with the necessary entry-level skills required for employment in doctor’s offices and clinics. The Medical Assistant course is taught by a Credentialed Educator, who is trained and works in the Medical field.

Medical Assistants help physicians by doing tasks to assist in the treatment and examination of patients. They provide for the efficient operation of a doctor’s office. After completing the medical assisting core-curriculum, students are placed in non-paid clinical internships to practice and improve their skills.

The course areas of study include: Vital Signs, Infection Control, Reception, Back and Front Office Management, Insurance Billing, Record Keeping, Aseptic Procedures, Examination of Patients, Pharmacology, Diagnostic Tests, Communication Skills, and Laboratory Procedures. In addition, our students have practice providing 10 injections and have had supervised training in blood draws. Our Medical Assistants take the Certified Medical Assistant Exam, with statewide certification.

Please note: The Medical Assistant Program requires that Medical Terminology be taken as a pre-requisite to the course.  The Glenn Adult Program offers Medical Terminology as a course for $50.00.

The Glenn County Medical Assistant Program provides adults supervised opportunities with local medical businesses and agencies. These clinical internships provide onsite work experience opportunities. We feel our program meets and exceeds Medical Assistant training standards and practices and our students are extremely prepared for their role as medical professionals.
