Adult Literacy Projects
- The Glenn County Adult Literacy Projects in Orland and Willows help adult learners reach their goals, complete their education, and participate more fully as members of their community, with their families and at their place of work.
- Tutoring is available to Glenn County adults who want to improve their reading, spelling, writing or math.
- Orland Adult Literacy and the Willows Area Literacy Projects offer individual, small group and classroom tutoring.
- Volunteer tutors assist adult learners to reach their goals, complete their education, and participate more fully as members of their community.
We provide free, one-on-one tutoring for adults in:
• Basic reading
• Writing
• Spelling
• Math
• Test study skills
Although High School diploma credits can only be given through enrollment in Glenn County Office of
Educations Success One! Adult Charter School or the Glenn Adult Program, the Literacy programs
do provide individualized tutoring and support directed towards the adult learner's specific needs and
personal goals.
Our literacy tutoring programs have assisted people to:
• Pass their GED tests
• Earn their high school diplomas
• Advance at their workplaces
• Become sworn United States Citizens
Adult learners with children age 0-5 can participate in our Families For Literacy program (FFL).
A service of the Willows Public Library and the Orland Free Library, FFL helps parents and their
children learn together to break the cycle of illiteracy. Families learn how to use the public libraries
and parents receive information on Community Resources.
Activities include:
• Family story times
• Arts and Crafts project
• Free children's books for each family's home library.
