The Glenn County Elementary Track & Field Meet will be held at the Orland High School Track. Registration is online only. Coaches can click here to register their students: http://www.planetReg.com/E44104622182572
The deadline to register is May 1st.
Announcement will begin at 9:00 a.m. Field and running events will begin at 9:30 a.m. The meet is set to end around 2:00 p.m.
Events for boys and girls include: - One Mile Run
- 50 Meter Run
- 100 Meter Run
- 200 Meter Run
- 400 Meter Run
- 800 Meter Run
- 4 X 100 Meter Relay
- Softball Throw
- Long Jump
- Sit Ups
- Shot Put
Ribbons are given out to each age level (10 – 14 years) in each event.

| | Schools from Glenn County are invited to participate in the Glenn County Spelling Bee, which is held at the Memorial Hall in Willows, CA. Students in grades 5 through 8 are eligible to participate. The Glenn County Spelling Bee is an oral competition. Each student receives a Certificate of Participation, and the winner in each grade level receives a trophy. . Winners in grades 5-8 are eligible to participate in the California State Spelling Bee competitions.

| | February 2, 2013 Glenn County High Schools are invited to participate in the Academic Decathlon. The Decathlon is an academic competition in which 9th through 12th grade students compete as individuals and as team members in a series of ten tests and demonstrations. The makeup of each of the nine-member teams include: - Three “A” students
- Three “B” students
- Three “C” students
Academic Decathletes take 30-minute multiple-choice tests in: - Economics
- Art
- Music
- Language and Literature
- Mathematics
- Science or Social Science
- Super Quiz
In addition, each team member: - Gives a prepared 4-minute speech
- Gives an impromptu 2-minute speech
- Sits through a 7-minute interview, and
- Has 50 minutes to write an essay
The only event open to the public is the last event of the day – the Super Quiz Oral Relay, which deals with either a Science or Social Science topic. Glenn County is one of 42 counties and districts in California participating in the California Academic Decathlon. The winner of the Glenn County Academic Decathlon is eligible to go to the state competition in Sacramento. | | March 25-28, 2013 The Glenn County Science Fair is for students in Kindergarten through 8th grades. Students may enter projects as an individual, a group project (2 or more students), or a large group (whole class project). There are two categories in which projects may be entered: 1) Scientific Experiment; or 2) Demonstration. Ribbons are awarded in each category at each grade level. Winning projects may be eligible for exciting Sponsor Awards.
Monday, March 25 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Set-up Science Projects at Glenn County Fairgrounds-Flaherty Hall (Orland)
Tuesday, March 26 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Judging of projects (only judges are allowed in the building)
Wednesday, March 27 Awards Ceremony and Public Viewing (Open to all students, family and the public) 3:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. -Public Viewing 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. -Awards Ceremony
Thursday, March 28 8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. School Field Trips & "Mad Science Student Assembly" 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. -Mad Science Student Assembly 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. -Mad Science Student Assembly
2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. -Projects must be taken down during this time. Any projects not picked up by 5:00 p.m. will be put in the dumpster.
Registration Information Registration is online this year for projects, classroom visits, and the Mad Science Assembly. Registration will open on February 1st. The deadline to complete project registration or sign-ups is March 7th.
