Tobacco Education Program Services

Glenn County’s High School Tobacco Education Program is a comprehensive tobacco use prevention program which includes education, youth involvement opportunities, and intervention and cessation services.   This program is part of the Youth Development Team at the Office of Education in Willows.

TEG – Tobacco Education Group

Parents or school administrators can refer students to a TEG class that meets after school for eight sessions, usually twice a week.  TEG is a research based intervention program that targets current tobacco users.  Students caught using tobacco on school grounds or at a school sponsored event are required to complete the program or face additional consequences.

TAP – Tobacco Awareness Program

TAP is a voluntary program for students who want to quit tobacco.  TAP consists of eight sessions and provides information on tobacco use and its effects and opportunities for self-assessment.  TAP classes are provided at the local high schools as needed.

S.W.A.T. – Students Working Against Tobacco

S.W.A.T. is a youth tobacco coalition through Glenn County Health Services that meets monthly at Willows, Orland, and Hamilton High Schools.  The goal of this club is to promote tobacco free lives and to help create and/or change local and state tobacco-related policies.  S.W.A.T. members have an opportunity to be involved in school and community events and activities.
