| | The Glenn County Adult Literacy Projects in Orland and Willows help adult learners reach their goals, complete their education, and participate more fully as members of their community, their families and their places of work.
Help is available to Glenn County adults who want to improve their reading, spelling, writing or math. Orland Adult Literacy and the Willows Area Literacy Project offer individual, small group and classroom learning, with on-site childcare. Volunteer tutors assist adult learners to reach their goals, complete their education, and participate more fully as members of their community, their families and their places of work. We provide free, one-on-one tutoring for adults in - Basic reading
- Writing
- Spelling
- Math
- Test study skills
We give individual attention and support directed towards the adult learner’s specific needs and personal goals. Our literacy programs have helped people to: - Pass their GED tests
- Earn their high school diplomas
- Advance at their workplaces
- Become sworn United States citizens
Families for Literacy Adult learners with children 4 and under can participate in our Families for Literacy program. A service of the Willows Public Library and the Orland Free Library, FFL helps parents and children learn together to break the cycle of illiteracy. Families learn how to use the library. Parents receive information on community resources. Activities include: - Family storytimes
- Arts & crafts project
- Free children’s books for each family’s home library

| | Help plant the seeds of learning by becoming a literacy volunteer as tutor or support staff. The only qualifications needed are the ability to read and the joy of helping others. We provide the training, books and supplies, and support you need. Tutors volunteer 3 hours per week, working with an assigned learner at a mutually convenient time. Support staff hours are flexible. Please contact our office for more information (see below).
