| | STAR (Standardized Testing and Reporting) The Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program, administered annually, was authorized in 1997 by state law. The purpose of the STAR Program is to help measure how well students are learning required academic skills. CAHSEE (California High School Exit Examination) Beginning with the Class of 2006, all public school students will be required to pass the exam to earn a high school diploma. The purpose of the exam is to ensure that students who graduate from public high schools can demonstrate grade level competency in reading, writing, and mathematics.
