California Standards Test (CST): The purpose of the California Standards Tests is to measure the degree to which students are achieving the academically rigorous content standards adopted by the State Board of Education (SBE).
STAR CST and NCLB Blueprints: Information for the California Standards Test (CST) and No Child Left Behind (NCLB). California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE): Assistance for students and schools with the administration of the CAHSEE. Beginning with the Class of 2006, all public school students will be required to pass the exam to earn a high school diploma. | |

| | The Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment Induction Program (BTSA) is a statewide and state-mandated research based program of support and skill building designed to meet the needs of beginning educators in California through formative assessment and individualized support based on assessment. As of 2003, BTSA is the teacher credential avenue approved by CCTC as the Induction Program for beginning and out of state educators. BTSA is co-administered by the California Department of Education (CDE) and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). There are currently 145 BTSA Programs in the State of California. BTSA pairs teachers in their first or second year (participating teacher -PT) with experienced teachers (support provider - SP) to support teaching and learning in each classroom. The BTSA Induction Program focuses upon the California Academic Content Standards, Student Assessment, Lesson Design and Delivery. BTSA support is aligned with the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP).

| | Data Collection and Analysis (Edusoft) - Driving Achievement Through Assessment (DATA) provides the professional development and technical assistance for classroom teachers, principals and curriculum coordinators to collect, analyze, and use student performance data to improve instruction. The DATA program builds capacity in classroom teachers and administrators to implement standards-based assessment and use the results to target instruction to meet the specific needs of individual students and groups of students.
Program Goals: - Help teachers and administrators learn how to collect and manipulate student performance data using technology
- Help teachers and administrators learn effective data analysis strategies and use the results to improve instruction
- Help administrators infuse data-driven decision-making into the existing school structure
- Begin to strengthen the link between the classroom and new before and afterschool programs
- Build site level capacity to collect, analyze, and use student performance data
- Help districts select technology to support data analysis

| | The California School Recognition Program was created in 1985 to communicate and reinforce the priorities of the State Board of Education and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. The program promotes the improvement of education in America by identifying and recognizing exemplary public schools. The California School Recognition program is made up of the Blue Ribbon Schools program and the Distinguished School Recognition program. Each year California identifies the strongest, most inspiring public schools and recognizes their achievement. Coordinated with the U.S. Department of Education's National Blue Ribbon Program, the state programs celebrate our nation's most successful schools. | |

| | Education Code Section 48926 requires county superintendents to submit a plan to the Superintendent of Public Instruction, no later than June 30th regarding the provision of educational services to all expelled students in the county. Section 48926 further provides that each county superintendent of schools, in conjunction with district superintendents in the county, shall submit to the Superintendent of Public Instruction a triennial update to that plan.
